02 — The story
The story
Overview
A beautifully refurbished white Mercedes-Benz 190 SL with four owners since it was first registered in Germany in June 1962. History partially traceable, matching numbers, H-plate certified and registered. Extensively restored, with a TÜV inspection valid for two years and the original set of keys — ready to drive.
Exterior colour / paint / rust
Finished entirely in white. The body was extensively restored and then repainted, so only minor stone-chip marks are present. Some new body components were fitted without modification, and the classic trim strips complete the period look.
Wheels / brakes / chassis
Steel wheels with hubcaps, painted in body colour during the restoration, with chrome rings in good condition and Michelin whitewall-look tyres. Brakes fully functional; the chassis is in original condition, regularly serviced and very well maintained.
Interior
Elegant black leather seats with retrofitted seat heating and matching trim, floor mats in good condition. The dashboard and original spoked sports steering wheel are finished in white to match the exterior, combined with black gauges and a dark soft top. Classic Becker Mexico radio, plus a separate audio unit with navigation fitted in the glove compartment.
Mileage & instruments
31,898 km on the five-digit speedometer. All instruments, gauges and controls have been checked and work without fault.
Engine
M 121 four-cylinder petrol engine, 1.9 litres, 105 hp, with a fully synchronised four-speed gearbox: 0–100 km/h in just over 14 seconds and a top speed of 173 km/h. A September 2021 appraisal found no defects apart from a slight oil loss. The head gaskets were renewed last year (just under €3,000).
Underbody
Included in the restoration and treated with cavity compound and transparent protective wax. Well kept, with traces of corrosion only on the lateral edges.
